YELLOW BELT

Saturday, February 26, Chase had testing. I was really nervous for him because he had to do the 25 moves he learned as an orange belt. I wasn't sure if he had memorized his whole form. Well he did super out on the floor and didn't mess up at allo.

Man I was so proud of him that I started tearing up. I think I could have been sobbing but I kept thinking, "Don't cry! I don't want all this people here to look at me." He is now a yellow belt and will start having to memorize a whole different form. It looks pretty hard but after Saturday I think I won't doubt him anymore. After yellow belt, he will get the camouflage belt. He said, "I can't wait for that belt because I'll get to spar with the other kids." Yikes! Scary, but he's not scared.

Chase is in the middle one:)

Eight months old...

Carl turned 8 months old last week. He is officially crawling everywhere in the house and wants to get into everything. Here he was playing and standing around our dinning area.I catch myself saying "no! no!" so many times through out the day with him. He stands by himself when holding on to something. He has 6 teeth, and he can bite hard:/ He's still teething. Oh, and he is finally saying mama:) He loves food. He will scream if we don't share with him. During the day he takes short naps..it's crazy trying to get things done but he does sleep through the whole night.

The Great Aloha Run 2011

About 6 months ago, my friend Letty wanted to put a group of 7 friends together to run The Great Aloha run. She asked me if I would be interested. I needed to work off my baby weight, I agreed. But I thought I was going to end up walking the entire 8.15 miles.

Since living on the island I haven't had any of the asthma problems that I always had in California. It makes exercise not only possible but fun. I started excersing in October with my friends Letty, Sarah, and Courtney. I first started walking up and down hills--killer hills. Then I started walking/jogging in the mornings with some friends while pushing a double stroller. My friends were very kind to push the stroller as well:)

In January, the race was getting closer and I still had no idea if I could run a whole 8.15 miles. I knew I could do 4 miles because I had done that with Greg. But I was so nervous as the race was approaching. I was happy when Greg agreed to run with me and promised to stay with me during the entire run.
The night before the race I had a nightmare that I got lost in Honolulu during the race, I couldn't find my way back to the race route, and then I was attacked by a psycho lady. That morning I told Greg he couldn't leave me. He promised he would stay with me. I don't know why I was so worried.
Greg and I did start and finished the race together. To my surprise, I was able to run the entire 8.15miles. My goal was to finish under 2 hours. We finished in 1 hour and 25 minutes. That was also a BIG surprise for me.
My friend Letty has been my trainer for the past 5 months:) She's awesome! She and I agreed today that when I came back from our trip to California, we are back to training to run a half marathon for this year.

Waimanalo Beach

Greg and I like to hit the beach at about 9am to have the beach to ourselves:) We leave the beach at around 1pm before crowds come around. We also don't stay long to avoid getting burned.

Saturday was Carl's first time getting down and dirty with Chase and Savvy, digging and playing in the sand. It was so funny watching him enjoy the sand with brother and sister:)

Savvy with a hand full of sand. The beach to ourselves for a good 2 hours:)Carl getting down with castle building.
Carl even knew how to help dig the hole. Kids are born knowing how to do certain things I guess.Whoops!! Carl got a bit too excited...
Greg and I had a good laugh:)

Valentines and Birthday party..

For Valentines Day I finally was able to surprise Greg. I usually don't go to his office because he goes to the gym during his lunch break. Well, I wanted to do something small and sweet for Greg. I decided to take a card and balloon to him during his lunch break. He was surprised to see me. I went with a friend to Fort Shafter because she also wanted to surprise her husband with a little gift.

Greg and I had lunch with my friend and her husband at the golf course on post. Later that day I made dinner for Greg and he gave me a lovely fragrance that I've been wanting since last month:) Oh and later that weekend we went out to dinner at the California kitchen. Wow I really liked what we ordered there. It was our first time eating there. I am carbing up for the Aloha run. It's on Monday the 21st.

How/ why do the kids birthdays come around so fast? Chase turned Six:/ He's turning into a big kid. He had a Batman party and had his favorite food. His friends came over to celebrate with us!He loves rice, fried noodles, and orange chicken. He loves to eat with chopsticks and is getting pretty good using them:) Chase and I wearing our batman shirts:

Carl is now mobile he is starting to crawl. From time to time I like to look back on Chase and Savvy's baby pictures. Well, I ran into this photos of Savvy getting into trouble when she was mobile at Mammy's house. Now the fun begins with Carl:) Let's see what kind of trouble he gets into:)

Food!

Since starting my diet on January 1st, I have been thinking a lot about food. I think it's time for a short post on some of the foods I love.

Okay there is no Mexican food on this island:( Can't wait to have my parents Mexican food again:) I am starting to really like other foods though. For instance, Thai food is amazing! I love chicken curry with coconut milk. I need to stop. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!

One night for dinner Greg made sushi rolls. It was so good. I love avocado. Yeah he put avocado in them.
I also can't get enough of the Island Pinapple, Mango, and Coconut. I think I'm going to make a smoothie now!

Okay maybe trying to write a post about food while on a diet is a bad idea. This is just making the diet harder. I'm going to stop now.
