Summer reading game is here!!!

Today, Chase checked out some books from the library. He is going to start the library summer reading game. Every five books we read, he will get a prize. The reading game theme is "catch the reading bug!" The librarian will be reading bug-books and doing bug-crafts with the kids. Here's Chase's first bug project:
We hadn't gone to the library for a while. It was nice to see Chase enjoying himself. Savannah enjoyed it too. It was hard for me to keep her close to us because she would try to run off. She also wanted to play on the computer with Chase. I have noticed that she wants to do everything Chase does. She's a funny girl.

Chase with his friends

My friend Susan picked me up on Saturday to take our kids to play in the water at Victoria Gardens. It was nice to meet up with her because I haven't seen her in a while because of our children being sick. Chase liked playing in the water. He was pretending to be the Karate-kid. He would charge at the water and then kick or punch it. I enjoyed watching him play, laugh, and smile. Savannah was afraid at first, but toward the end she enjoyed it a little more.

Swimming!!!!

Today, Mammy was the first to invite us for a water activity. We went swimming with Marci and the girls. Lizeth came with us too. We had a cool time in the pool. Chase was funny. He never wanted to take off his floaties or goggles. And he wouldn't leave the little intertube. Here are some funny pics of Chase in the pool, in full gear:

Savannah's dramatic day

The morning of Father's day Chase and I gave Greg a cute father's day card that Chase made. It was a very manly card with iron man, the incredible hulk, and spider man pictures and stickers. I made Greg some waffles for breakfast and made a cheesecake for after dinner. I feel blessed to have a wonderful husband and father. I love his ambition in life. I am so proud of all of his hard work done over that last 5 years to provide for our future. This afternoon, Savannah had her 12 month doctors appointment. She weighs 21 pounds. Poor little Savannah! She had to get three immunization shots. But it was even more sad when she had to get her blood drawn because her iron was low. It was sad to see her bottom lip tremble while they put the needle in her. I explained to Chase that Savannah was going to get her shots today and asked him if he could help Savannah get through it. Well, he did. He held her hand and said, "it's okay Savannah." I was so proud of him. We came back home and while Chase napped, I went for a walk and Savannah went for a ride in her new bike that my dad got for her birthday. She loves it. She enjoys being outside just like her big brother.

Savannah's Birthday

Lizeth and I went to Mom's Relief Society meeting this morning. I learned many things about how to safeguard our family. Most importantnly, I learned, "if ye are prepared ye shall not fear." I am going to take our 72-hour kit more seriously and get the kids one. Also, I am going to check my 72-hour kit to make sure it will be adequate for an emergency. Greg stayed home with Chase and Savannah. Greg baked Savannah's birthday cake and cupcakes. Chase was his little helper in making them.

We had a fun day celebrating Savannah's birthday. It was cute. Marci and the girls gave her a new baby doll and she loved it. It was fun to see her play with it and hearing her say "baby." I want to thank everyone for coming and celebrating Savannah's first birthday with us. And thank you Tyler and Kyle for wishing Savanahh a happy birthday. We missed you Kristin, Monty, and the boys, but it was nice hearing from you. I attach a video so you can get an idea of how much Savannah enjoyed her first piece of birthday cake. I think she is now hooked!!
WARNING: this video is sort of disgusting!! but funny:

An upcoming Birthday

This Saturday Savannah will be a year old and it makes me feel a little sad. She's no longer a baby. I was looking through some pictures of her as a baby and can't believe how fast the year has gone by. I noticed how much Chase has grown too. He has been a great big brother for her. I can remember so clear how ready he was for her to come and join the family. We love Savannah so much. I don't know how life would have been without her. She always makes us laugh. She is a busy girl; she gets into the toilet, trash, cupboards, and everything Chase has.
